Sobey’s delivery service mic-drop. Voilà.

Sobey’s introduced Voilà, a new online grocery delivery service, and needed a brand and visual platform to stand out of the crowd and get people excited about their new and unique service. With the timing just right, having launched a grocery delivery service with leveraged robots to pick-out your groceries during COVID-19, a global pandemic, the launch of Voilà was an immense success.

Our goal was to create a name and brand identity that could embody that versatility and on-timeliness. It also needed to feel bold and energizing but also delightful.

The magic portal

We emphasized Voilà’s versatility and quick service with a distinctive mark — reusing the counters of the ‘O’ and ‘A’ to become bespoke dot and accent. We then use that oval shape to anchor the entire visual system. When combined with food photography, the oval communicated the magic behind Voilà: groceries appearing seemingly out of nowhere and into your home. The oval was also used as pattern, speech bubble and graphic window, providing a visual toolkit that has variety and legs over time.

Voilà - Your Groceries Delivered, Just like that. TV Spot, 2020

OOH

With a bright electric blue, orange and green colour palette paired with our dynamic food photography, the OOH was designed to grab attention and keep it. From billboards and tsa’s to the hundreds of Voilà delivery trucks that were driving around the streets of the GTA, everyone was captivated by the big blue truck with a magical peach on it.

Digital

Voilà was a digital first platform. The main product, being the e-commerce website where people could order their groceries online had to be versatile, accessible and compatible with the UX design. We worked with their internal team of developers to design a seamless and easy to navigate website with brand identity infused at every touchpoint.

Social media is where the brand could really play. With the conceptual idea of “magic” in mind, we designed motion-driven, dynamic and fun visuals which were full of energy and excitement. The bold and unique personality of Voilà ultimately stood out in their category, driving immense engagement across their social media platforms, website and ad spaces.
